Two Ole professors weigh in on The Da Vinci Code
May 15, 2006
Two St. Olaf professors have been cited repeatedly regarding their opinions on The Da Vinci Code. Associate Professor of Religion James Hanson '83 and Professor of English Diana Postlethwaite are both quoted in a recent Star Tribune article on the book, the film version of which will be released this week. Hanson and Postlethwaite discuss the veracity of Dan Brown's novel and consider some of the elements contributing to the book's popularity, as well as the intense reactions against it.
In a companion article in the same edition, Hanson also is quoted as saying he believes Brown's view is flawed, but nevertheless has spurred discussion of religious issues in our culture. Read more of Hanson's interview here.
In a recent Chicago Sun-Times article, Postlethwaite discusses the reactions some churches have had to The Da Vinci Code. The full article can be read here.
