The Mathematical Association of America has published two new books edited by Lynn Steen, professor of mathematics at St. Olaf College. The first book, Supporting Assessment in Undergraduate Mathematics, contains 26 case studies offering lessons learned during a four-year project designed to support mathematics departments in the challenge of assessing student learning. The second book, Math, Bio 2010: Linking Undergraduate Disciplines, envisages a new educational paradigm in which mathematics and biology will be linked in the undergraduate science programs of the 21st century.
