PAG announces young alumni matching challenge
February 14, 2006
Alumni in the classes 2000-05 now have an extra incentive to make a gift to Partners in Annual Giving, the St. Olaf annual fund. To encourage the most recently graduated Oles to give back to St. Olaf, Stanley '47 and Virginia Rifenbary Nelson '48 have offered to match any new gifts to PAG between now and May 31, 2006.
"We realize these recent graduates are enthusiastic and energetic in service, education and innovation," Virginia says. "We know they may not have a lot of financial resources from which to make gifts during their young alumni years. However, Stan and I recognize the importance of responsible giving to support the St. Olaf mission and its current operations." Stan says, "We hope to encourage recent graduates to keep St. Olaf in mind as they develop their annual giving plans."
The Nelsons have intergenerational St. Olaf family ties, including their granddaughter, Lindsey A. Nelson '02.
Gifts to Partners in Annual Giving directly support current students in the form of financial aid, academic scholarships, library/computer resources and international study programs. Graduates from the classes of 2000-05 can visit stolaf.edu/giving to make their online gift and receive the match.
