High school seniors and juniors and their parents, as well as adults planning to attend any college or university, are invited to a financial aid information event on Tuesday, Jan. 24, at 7 p.m. in the Viking Theater at St. Olaf College.

St. Olaf Director of Financial Aid Kathy Ruby will describe what financial aid is and how the financial aid process works. Ruby will offer advice on how to complete the financial aid application form and how to search for scholarships.

A question-and-answer session will follow her presentation. "This is an opportunity to have financial aid demystified," she said. "The idea of paying for college can be daunting for families, but many options are available, and the process is less complex than it first appears."

High school seniors will have the opportunity to enter a $250 scholarship drawing from the Minnesota Association of Financial Aid Administrators. In addition, free financial aid materials will be available for all attendees. The session is free and open to the public. Parking is available on the north side of Buntrock Commons, and Viking Theater is located just inside the main doors.
