Grieg biographer to lecture Friday

Finn Benestad, an expert on Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg, will present a lecture about the composer Friday. The lecture, "Edvard Grieg and Norwegian Folk Music," can be heard at 10:45 a.m. in Urness Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
Benestad, professor emeritus of musicology at the University of Oslo and holder of an honorary degree from St. Olaf, is former chair of the Edvard Grieg Committee, which is responsible for the publication of the C. F. Peters edition of Edvard Grieg: Complete Works in 20 volumes. He also is co-author of the definitive biography, Edvard Grieg: The Man and Artist, and is editor of the five-volume set of virtually all of Grieg's extant letters.
