Norwegian pianist to perform Wednesday
November 15, 2005
Norwegian pianist Tori Stodle will perform at St. Olaf Wednesday at 8:15 p.m. in Urness Recital Hall. Stodle, whom New York Times reviewer James Oestreich calls a "refined miniaturist," will play Nordlandsbilleder (Scenes from Nordland) by David Monrad Johansen, "Listen" by Arne Nordheim and a sonata by Franz Schubert. The performance is free and open to the public.
Stodle is associate professor of piano at the Music Conservatory in Tromso. Her successful touring career has included Russia, England, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Sweden and Denmark. In the United States she has given recitals presenting Norwegian piano music in San Francisco, San Diego, Denver and Seattle. She has been guest lecturer at the Julliard School and Manhattan School of Music, where she has giving lecture-recitals of Norwegian music. Stodle has toured Norway and performs frequently on Norwegian television and radio. She has made four CD recordings.
