Legler appointed to national mathematics board

Julie Legler, associate professor of mathematics, statistics and computer science, has been appointed to membership on the Mathematical Sciences Education Board. Located within the National Research Council's Center for Education, the current mission of the MSEB is to provide national leadership and guidance for policies, programs and practices that support the improvement of mathematics education at all levels and for all members of society. The board's focus includes the learning and instruction of mathematics, attracting and retaining students in mathematics majors and in mathematically intensive careers, and assessing evidence of effectiveness in mathematics education and the public perception of mathematics.
