Political scientist to discuss Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez

Distinguished Professor Emeritus Richard S. Hillman, St. John Fisher College will give a guest lecture in Buntrock Commons, Viking Theatre at 7:15 p.m. He will speak on how and why Hugo Chavez, a former military coup plotter, rose to the elected presidency of a country that appeared to be a paradigm of democracy, and the effects Chavez has had on relations between Venezuela and the United States. "Hugo Chavez/Venezuela and U.S. relations" is part of St. Olaf's Latino Heritage Month celebration and is sponsored by the Hispanic Studies program and Community Life & Diversity.
