St. Olaf's sustainability theme garners national attention
October 19, 2005
St. Olaf College was named number four on a recent "Grist List" compiled by Seattle-based Grist Magazine, an award-winning online environmental publication. The nonprofit Grist ranks the college's current sustainability theme along with the Tehama project of developer Clint Eastwood and a new methanol-fueled Toshiba MP3 player.
"Kudos to St. Olaf for taking the initiative and leading in the area of sustainability," says Grist staff member Emily Cunningham. "I get excited thinking about the kind of 'ripple' effect this will have."
Well, the ripples seem to have begun as Organic.org highlights St. Olaf's promotion of sustainable living and a number of sponsoring organizations are including St. Olaf in the current Campus Climate Challenge at EnergyAction.net. EnergyAction also profiled St. Olaf in its report on New Energy for Campuses.
