St. Olaf Dance department will take 'Swing a Club' on the road
April 9, 2005
"Swing a Club: facing cancer," the interdisciplinary faculty and student performance held on campus in November and April 2004, is touring the country this spring. St. Olaf College Assistant Professor of Dance Anthony Roberts conceived the multimedia dance piece as an expression of his experience during his brother's fatal bout with cancer in 2001.
The title, "Swing a Club," stems from Roberts' brother's hope that he would quickly complete his cancer treatments and then take his annual golf trip with friends.
"Swing a Club" will be presented April 9 at 8 p.m. at the Space/Place Theater at the University of Iowa, Iowa City. Call 800-346-4401 for tickets. The group also performed at the Scottsdale Community College Performing Arts Center on March 24-25.
