Religion professors to debate 'just war theory' at local church
April 10, 2005
Two professors of religion at St. Olaf will debate opposite sides of the difficult question: Is war ever justifiable? Assistant Professor of Religion Phil Stolzfus and Visiting Assistant Professor of Religion Jamie Schillinger will lead an indepth discussion on Sunday, April 10, at a lay-led service of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Northfield.
The church meets in the Masonic Lodge at the corner of Linden and Second streets, less than a mile east of the St. Olaf campus.
Stolzfus's extensive community activities include organizing periodic regional meetings of the Upper Midwest regional group of Christian Peacemakers. Schillinger, a graduate of St. Olaf, focuses his academic interests on theology and ethics in both the Christian and Islamic traditions. The service, which begins at 10 a.m., is open to all.
