Should professors air their political opinions in the classroom?

By Amy Gage
March 8, 2005

Across the nation, professors are being challenged about whether they are too politically liberal -- and whether they have a right to share their political opinions with students at all. That debate will get an airing at St. Olaf on Tuesday, March 8, at 7 p.m. when Professor of Mathematics Paul Zorn and Assistant Professor of Political Science William Gorton present a debate and discussion entitled: "Should Professors' Opinions Stop at the Classroom Door?"

Sponsored by the Intellectual Diversity Task Force on campus, the event will be held in the Viking Theatre of Buntrock Commons. The public is welcome. An ice cream social follows.
