The St. Olaf Student Government Association (SGA) has held its executive election, ushering in a new team of leadership for the 2005-06 academic year. More than 1,200 students voted for student leaders to represent them and oversee the $450,000 budget governed by the SGA.
Eleven students were elected into executive positions: Thomas Rusert '06, president, Rachel Erickson '06, vice-president; Khider Elnimeiry '07, volunteer network; Jennifer Ho '06, diversity celebrations committee; Maggie Snetting '06, student organizations committee; Ellen Krahn '06, political awareness committee; Nicole Callies '06, student alumni association; Robin Karkowski-Schelar '06, board of regents student committee; Nicole Strenglis '07, student activities committee; Melissa Kuisle '06 and Dave Mahnken '07 as Lion's Pause co-coordinators.
Current SGA President Seth Heringer '05, a religion, classics and philosophy triple major from Bismarck, N.D., is optimistic about the incoming leadership team. "They are all going to do a great job. I'm excited to see how they make SGA even better than it is now," says Heringer.
