The St. Olaf Tsunami Relief Committee, a student-run organization at St. Olaf College, is offering a tsunami relief benefit concert on Friday, Feb. 25, at 7:30 p.m. in the Northfield Middle School auditorium.

The concert will feature performances by various St. Olaf student multicultural organizations and individuals, including the St. Olaf Karibu Association, an African culture and dance group, the St. Olaf Japanese Taiko Drumming Group and the improvisational student comedy troupe Scared Scriptless. Salah Mohamed, a sophomore from Rochester, Minn., and president of the St. Olaf Muslim Student Association, will be the event's master of ceremonies. Donations are welcome and 100 percent of the proceeds will go to the Red Cross Tsunami Disaster Relief Fund.

The St. Olaf Student Tsunami Relief Committee is made up of 20 student organizations, including the Student Government Association, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Catholic Student Association and Amnesty International. The committee has raised over $2,000 to date for tsunami relief through various campus activities. Its goal is to raise $10,000.

"The idea behind the tsunami relief benefit concert was that the St. Olaf Student performance-based fundraising efforts should be extended beyond the St. Olaf community to include the entire Northfield community as well," says Gloria MacWilliams-Brooks, a St. Olaf junior from Colorado Springs, Colo., a co-organizer of the benefit concert.
