Globalization and Social Responsibility conference to be held at St. Olaf College

The fourth annual Conference on Globalization and Social Responsibility will be held Feb. 17-19 at St. Olaf College, Buntrock Commons. This year's theme "Consequences of the New Economy" features lectures, breakout sessions, student research and perspective poster display, a theatrical production of "Nickel and Dimed" and Lila Teresa Church's art exhibit of quilts with poetry. The events are free and open to the public.

Guest speakers include: Dr. C. Ford Runge, a University of Minnesota economist, speaking on the affects of globalization on food and nutrition at 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 17, in Science Center, room 280. The second featured speaker will be Tsunami-relief expert Raymond C. Offenheiser, president of OXFAM America at 3:45 p.m. on Feb. 18 in the Buntrock Commons, Ballroom. New York journalist Liza Featherstone, author of "Students Against Sweatshops" will lecture at 9 a.m. on Feb. 19 in the Buntrock Commons, Ballroom.
