Taliaferro authors two new philosophy titles
February 15, 2005
St. Olaf Professor of Philosophy Charles Taliaferro is the author of two new titles. Evidence and Faith: Philosophy and Religion Since the Seventeenth Century (Cambridge University Press, 2005) is a dynamic narrative history beginning with the movement of Cambridge Platonism, which formed a bridge between the ancient and medieval worlds and early modern philosophy. The book provides an overview of different movements in philosophy, as well as detailed analysis and reflection on key arguments.
Taliaferro's second book, Cambridge Platonist Spirituality (Paulist Press, 2005), co-edited with Alison J. Teply, introduces a collection of essays, poetry and treatises by the Cambridge Platonists, who led a philosophical theology movement during the 17th Century. "This well-chosen collection of writings admirably illustrates the religious outlook which underlies the thinking of the Cambridge Platonists," says Sarah Hutton, reader in Renaissance Studies at Middlesex University.
