February 28, 2005

St. Olaf Professor of Religion DeAne Lagerquist will serve as the 2005-06 Lilly Vocational Scholar as part of the St. Olaf Program for Lives of Worth and Service. In her new capacity, Lagerquist will pursue two related projects: a response to four studies of religion and higher education that include St. Olaf College, and a manuscript on Lutheran higher education as an example of Christian participation in the public arena. She will also serve on the Lilly Program Committee and represent the college's Lilly Grant Program at local, regional and national events. Lagerquist succeeds Professor of Religion Doug Schuurman, who served as the Lilly Vocational Scholar during the first two years of the program.
