Ole football rout Carleton Knights 49-0

St. Olaf football team amassed 440 yards of total offense in their 49-0 trouncing of Carleton Saturday afternoon. The Oles jumped to a 21-0 first quarter lead on the heels of two Brian Senske (Jr., Apple Valley, Minn.) touchdown passes. Senske finished 15-of-26 for 222 yards.

The Ole defense held the Knights to just 103 total yards, while forcing four turnovers. Carleton had a net of -38 on the ground. Dave Busselman (Jr., Prior Lake, Minn.) had five tackles and two first quarter sacks in the win.

Jason Moore (FY, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Brooklyn Center) led the Ole running attack with 94 yards on 14 carries with three touchdowns. Moore's 41-yard score was the longest offensive play from scrimmage.

Cordell Hunkins (Sr., Apple Valley, Minn.) had the Oles first two tallies, a 20 yard pass from Senske and a seven yard run on St. Olaf's second drive. Hunkins finished with 99 yards of total offense, carrying nine times for 34 yards and catching a team-high five passes for 65.

Frank Bass (So., Minneapolis, Minn./Roosevelt) caught Senske's other TD pass, a 31-yard strike with 1:42 left in the first quarter. Bass has three this season.

St. Olaf's other score came via Matt Dean's (So., Apple Valley, Minn.) 71 yard interception return in the second quarter. The return ensued the Ole's only turnover of the day, when Senske was intercepted by the Knights Justin Merriman.

The victory was the sixth straight win for St. Olaf over Carleton. St. Olaf now leads the all-time series 40-39-1.

Next week, St. Olaf hosts Augsburg at Manitou Field at 1 p.m. The game can be heard on 920 AM, KDHL.
