Brian Senske's (Jr., Apple Valley, Minn.) 23-yard touchdown strike to Kyle Fritze (So., Apple Valley, Minn.) with 5:35 to play proved to be the deciding score in St. Olaf's 23-21 win over Augsburg in front of 1,769 at the newly dedicated Ade Christensen Athletic Complex. With the win, the Oles (3-0, 2-0) remain the only undefeated team in the MIAC.

Fritze's touchdown catch gave the Oles a 23-14 lead. Augsburg countered with a 10-play, 76 yard drive to cut the Ole advantage to 23-21 with 1:36 to play. T.J. Bramwell capped the drive with a ten yard TD reception from Dave Fransen. The Oles recovered the ensuing onside kick.

Fransen completed 34-of-53 passes for 405 yards to lead the Auggies, who had 468 yards of total offense. Fransen's 405 yards and 34 completions set school records. Senske completed 18-of-36 for 271 yards. Each quarterback was intercepted twice.

The Oles led 10-0 at halftime after a 38-yard field goal by Sean Koomen (Jr., Mankato, Minn./West) in the second quarter. St. Olaf scored on their opening drive when Nate Lund (Jr., Mankato, Minn./Loyola) found fellow reciever Cory Paterson (Jr., Minnetonka, Minn./Hopkins) for a 63-yard touchdown on an end-around option pass.

Augsburg took their only lead of the game on Ben Paul's five yard run with 56 seconds to play in the third quarter. The Oles scored on the ensuing drive, when Cordell Hunkins (Sr., Apple Valley, Minn.) capped an eight play, 71 yard drive with a one-yard touchdown run. Hunkins finished with 81 yards on 24 carries.

Next week, St. Olaf travels to Collegeville for a meeting with St. John's. Last season, the Oles won at Clemens Stadium for the first time in over 15 years, beating the Johnnies 31-28. The game can be heard on 920 AM, KDHL.
