Though St. Olaf ran only their JV squad in the All-American Invite Sept. 14, the young harriers proved they could compete amongst the finest teams in the Midwest. The Oles finished fourth of eleven complete teams in the JV race. St. Olaf totaled 115 points, placing them behind the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse (20), Augustana College(73)and Wartburg College(81). Cross-town rival Carleton finished 11 points behind the Oles. Sam Hauck (FY, Shoreview, Minn./Concordia Academy), Aaron Peterson (Sr., Wells, Minn.) and Jason Havey (FY, Colombia, Mo.) had standout performances for the Oles finishig 14th, 21st and 22nd. Cal Parsons (So., Sheffield Plain, Mass.) and Paul Sovik-Siemens (So., Hastings, MN) rounded out the top five with 28th and 30th place respectively.

Hometown hero Jeff Freund (So., Decorah, Iowa) assisted in keeping the black and gold ahead of Carleton by maintaining his position ahead of the Knight's fifth runner.

The Oles are looking forward to defending their title in what proves to be a highly competitive St. Olaf Invitational on Saturday, September, 21st. The Invite will feature many of the nations top programs, many of whom are preparing for the Division III National Championships in November, which will be held at St. Olaf. Third-ranked North Central, seventh-ranked and MIAC rival St. Thomas, #18 UW-Platteville and #20 UW-Stevens Point are all expected to run. The race is free of admission and will begin at 11:00 a.m.
