Local children invited to paper airplane fly-in

It's a bird ... it's a plane ... it's a swarm of paper airplanes created by local kids!

All Northfield-area youth in grades K-5 are invited to a paper airplane "fly-in" at St. Olaf College Feb. 9 from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the Tostrud Center. Participants will be instructed on how to fold a paper airplane and will then let it fly from the upper walking track in the Tostrud Center to marked targets on the track floor below. Prizes will be awarded for the longest glide and most accurate landing. The day also will feature information about the physics of flying and a presentation by a pilot, who will speak about planes and flight.

The free event is sponsored by 5th Bridge and the Volunteer Network that is part of the St. Olaf Student Government Association. E-mail Barb Schmidt at schmidt@stolaf.edu to register.
