A perfect night out

St. Olaf is offering the perfect Valentine's Day event this year: a special dinner served in the Kings' Dining Room, followed by the St. Olaf Orchestra Home Concert.

The dinner, served 5-7 p.m. by St. Olaf food service provider Bon Appetit , will be available to the general public for $17.95 per person (call 507-786-3050 or 507-786-3763 for reservations). The menu will include fruits, cheeses, canapes and salads, followed by chef-carved porcini-crusted eye of prime rib with roasted garlic demi-glace and miso-marinated wild Alaskan black cod with lemon ginger soy sauce, plus an assortment of side dishes. And as usual, Bon Appetit will offer an array of fabulous desserts.

The St. Olaf Orchestra concert at 7:30 p.m. in Skoglund Center Auditorium (free and open to the public) will cap off this year's 10-concert tour to the Southwest. The program will include Ravel's La Valse, the overture to Strauss' Die Fledermaus, selections from Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet, solos by two students and a new work by conductor Steven Amundson.
