A recent issue of Midwest Fly Fishing magazine (vol. 14, issue 3) included "Fly Fishing for College Credit," a story that featured the "Fly Fishing/Fly Tying" class taught by St. Olaf Instructor in Physical Education Scott Nesbit.

"On Tuesdays, we watch Joan Wulff's video on casting and then go into our spacious field house and practice casting," Nesbit told the magazine. "When the weather gets warmer, we go outside and cast throughout campus." Students also can practice on the Cannon River or other nearby rivers and streams. In addition to fly fishing equipment and techniques, the popular course also teaches students about conservation and entomology.
