The sounds of St. Olaf will float through this year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.

An arrangement of St. Olaf Band Conductor Timothy Mahr's Fantasia in G, which he wrote for the St. Olaf Band in 1983, will be performed by the Homestead High School Marching Band of Cupertino, California. The piece will also be broadcast nationally during the 85 seconds NBC will feature the band marching through the parade.

The 85th annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade will begin at 9 a.m. (Eastern Standard Time) Thursday, November 24. Each year more than three million people line the streets of New York to watch the parade, and another 50 million tune in to NBC to see the giant balloons, one-of-a-kind floats, the nation's best marching bands, and a host of celebrities.

Mahr, a 1978 graduate of St. Olaf, and the St. Olaf Band will tour California this winter.
