Mathematical debriefing will be undertaken under the guidance of the mathematics co-PIs, who will help the returning students continue their research and complete a mathematics paper for publication. We fully expect that our returning NSF international scholars will publish their work in refereed research journals, most likely publishing jointly with the mathematicians and graduate students at the host institutions and/or with the analysts at St. Olaf College. Both co-PIs have lengthy publication lists and a great deal of experience publishing with undergraduates.
Each returning NSF international scholar will give two oral presentations at St. Olaf. The first will be a research seminar at which the scholar describes the mathematics of the research experience in the Mathematics Department bi-weekly research seminar. The second will be a joint lecture with that year's other NSF international scholars at an all-department colloquium as part of St. Olaf's weekly student colloquium series. This second talk will weave in cultural experiences and play an important role in recruiting students for the following summer.
