Senior Capstone Seminar

CS 390B (CAP), Fall 2020

We intend the following outcomes for students who have completed St. Olaf's CS 390, Senior Capstone Seminar (CAP).

At the end of the course, we intend that students have:

  • Experience the following elements of research in Computer Science:

    • carry out background research for a project, including literature search and presentation of a background research paper;

    • contribute to implementation of a CS research project, ordinarily in a team;

    • research and write a paper in the style of a CS research paper or conference submission;

    • present that research paper, either orally or as a poster;

    • create useful documentation for a research project, either for subsequent researchers or for another target audience, such as end users or system administrators; and

    • perform an ethical analysis of a CS research project, ordinarily as part of a team.

  • Receive instruction and individual feedback on writing, consistent with the WRI general education requirement.
