Dr. Abraham focuses on solving complex environmental and animal health challenges using a holistic, systems-based approach. Her interdisciplinary academic journey began with a degree in Veterinary Medicine from India, followed by a Ph.D. at the University of Minnesota (UMN), and most recently a Postdoctoral Fellowship at UMN’s Institute on the Environment (IonE). There, she contributed to diverse USDA NIFA–funded projects on animal agricultural sustainability and research and extension on climate decision-support tools, and worked on community-driven conservation efforts for Amur Falcons using a socio-ecological framework.
She is deeply passionate about both formal and informal education and about engaging with communities through participatory research and extension. She is currently teaching Ecosystem and Environmental Health courses here at St. Olaf College. Her teaching philosophy focuses on the interconnectedness of animal, human, and environmental health to help students understand these interactions while tackling complex “wicked problems.”
