Originally from Kansas City, Walter attended University of Puget Sound where he studied comparative politics with a minor in Asian studies. Walter graduated in May of 2019.

Walter was an active college student from the start, founding a competitive timbersports team in his first semester on campus. Outside of timbersports, Walter learned to rock climb and eventually led rock climbing trips around Washington, had both a folk music and talk radio show, and worked for the Admissions Office for three years. During his junior year, Walter participated in a nine month study abroad program that traveled through ten different Asian nations while studying politics, religion, sociology, and more.

Between graduating in May and starting work at St. Olaf in late August, Walter ran the waterfront at Camp Nebagamon in northern Wisconsin.

Walter loves his work in admissions because he loves people. With his work in admissions, Walter gets to connect with individual students and learn about their passions and goals. Walter enjoys helping students with the often-daunting process of finding the right college.

Walter is proud to represent St. Olaf because of the strong values of community, inclusion, and global engagement. Oles graduate with a well-rounded education that prepares them for their fields as well as for being  responsible citizens of the world.
