I am a sociolinguist who studies social constructs in order to see the ways in which language, especially pronunciation, influences our understandings of these constructs and reciprocally how these constructs affect the ways in which we understand language. My research is currently focused on linguistic phenomenon in the cuir community in Puerto Rico. I am also broadly interested in better understanding the ways and methods through which these constructs, and the language that surrounds them, have become culturally meaningful and relevant for speakers of their languages.

In my teaching I use a variety of methods to help foster an inclusive and welcoming classroom for all students. I intentionally create space for students to be able to take risks in their learning, which ultimately helps them to reach their personal and professional goals.

Outside of teaching I enjoy cooking and playing board games, as well as spending time with my dog.
