Marit Hanson teaches courses on language, literature, and culture. She enjoys integrating technology into her courses (e.g. VR tours in SPAN 112, digital storymapping in SPAN 271/274) and providing students with a variety of opportunities to demonstrate their learning through traditional and creative modalities.
Marit received her Masters and PhD in Hispanic Literatures and Cultures from the University of Minnesota, and is currently completing a Masters of Multilingual Education, also at the University of Minnesota. Her literary research focuses on posthumanism and feminism in Spanish science fiction. More recently, her pedagogical research investigates applications of generative AI to language learning and acquisition. Her work has appeared in the Journal of Spanish Cultural Studies and 452ºF. Revista de Teoría de la Literatura y Literatura Comparada.
Beyond the Hill, Marit loves spending time with her family and cats, performing with her taiko ensemble, baking, and playing games (video, board, roleplaying, you name it).
