My name is Dorothee Ischler. I have had the privilege of a diverse upbringing across Poland and Germany, an experience that has profoundly influenced my journey. My educational pursuit led me to the Ruhr University Bochum, where I studied clinical psychology from 1978 to 1984, culminating in attaining a "Diplom Psychologin" degree (E.B.D.). My interest in systematic therapies brought me to study at the University of Minnesota between 1985 and 1986.  Later in life, I returned to academia, earning a Doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy from Argosy University in 2015. With a career spanning numerous years dedicated to psychotherapy, I have acquired a rich reservoir of therapeutic techniques. My therapeutic approach is deeply rooted in a holistic, client-centered philosophy with a trauma-informed lens.  Recognizing the profound significance of attachment, I prioritize the quality of the therapeutic relationship, emphasizing safety and attunement as fundamental pillars of the healing process.  My belief in every client's individuality steers me from adopting a one-size-fits-all approach.  Instead, I develop therapy plans tailored to each client's personality and life history.

Since 1986, I have been working at the Center for Healing and Resilience in Northfield. Outside professional pursuits, I find solace in the great outdoors, and I am actively engaged in volunteer work with fellow Rotarians and Benedictine Oblates.
