As the Senior Associate Director, Career Development, Data, and Operations, Nate coaches students with an emphasize on supporting students interested in environmental careers and STEM careers; provides leadership related to data and reporting; and oversees operations, internship funding, student engagement and communications for the Piper Center for Vocation and Career.
In a previous role as the Associate Director, Civic Engagement he facilitated a number of civic engagement and internship opportunities that enabled students to extend learning beyond the classroom, contribute to communities, and grow as active citizens and leaders. Nate also provided leadership for the Academic Civic Engagement program at St. Olaf by facilitating faculty development, managing community partnerships, and coordinating grant projects.
Prior to coming to St. Olaf Nate worked at Regis University in Denver, CO, where he facilitated service-learning and leadership development programs. He has participated in travel learning experiences in Japan, Bolivia, Brazil, El Salvador, Israel/Palestine, and Peru. Nate also served in the Jesuit Volunteer Corps, where he worked in homeless services in St. Louis, MO.
Nate is a 2001 graduate of Iowa State University, where he majored in Psychology. He obtained a Masters in Nonprofit Management from Regis University in Denver, CO.
In his free time Nate enjoys spending time with his family and two children, biking (especially on gravel, dirt and snow), coaching soccer, camping and running.
