Julie Legler has been teaching and learning at St. Olaf College since 2001. Formerly, as a director of the Statistics Program and the Center for Interdisciplinary Research (CIR), she has introduced hundreds of students to the joy of statistics and many graduates have gone on to statistics-related employment and graduate programs. The CIR is home to 6-8 student team projects annually and Julie has been a faculty advisor for a project or two every year. The projects are diverse and include "North American Vowel Shifts" and a study of the translation of Ole Rolvaag texts. With a doctorate in biostatistics, Julie enjoys working with students in public health including leading students on an interim to Geneva, Switzerland to work with WHO researchers and back on the Hill in her biostatistics class.
