Sam Mitchel is a Student Success Coach in the Academic Success Center at St. Olaf College. Sam strongly believes in the power of personalized guidance for students and is passionate about supporting students through their college journey, helping them naviagate challenges, and celebtrating their successes. As a first-generation and low-income student herself, she understands the unique needs of low-income and first-generation students. 

Sam recevied her B.S. Social Studies Education from Minnesota State University, Mankato and is currently working on her Master's in Educational Leadership at Minnesota State University, Mankato. During her undergraduate experience Sam was able to study abroad in Norway twice, including her student teaching experience where she taught English, American Culture, Government and Politics, and U.S History. Additonally, Sam coordinated volunteer experiences for her Community Engagement Office, and served in various roles in Student Government. 

Prior to working at St. Olaf College, Sam served in AmeriCorps for two terms of service as a College Coach with College Possible where she worked with low-income students at various colleges across Minnesota and Wisconsin. She also brings experience teaching Social Studies in middle school and high school settings. 

In her free time, Sam enjoys traveling, reading, being outdoors, and spending time with her friends and family.
