Dr. Tori Okwabi received a D.M. in clarinet performance from Florida State University, a M.M. from Michigan State University and a B.M. from the University of Wisconsin. She studied under the tutelage of Frank Kowalsky, Elsa-Ludwig-Verdehr, Deborah Bish, Nathan Williams and Linda Bartley. Tori is currently the principal clarinetist of Wayzata Symphony Orchestra under the direction of conductor and clarinetists Marlene Pauley. She has also taught clarinet at St. Cloud State University and world music and music history at McNally Smith College of Music and Minneapolis Media Institute. Currently Tori is the clarinet specialist at Midwest Musical Imports where she has collaborated with world renowned clarinetists and repair technicians to develop a unique clarinet setup.

Dr. Okwabi has a passion for studying new music, especially compositions with a world music focus. With a background in teaching and performing world music, Tori strives to incorporate various music cultural influences into her clarinet performance practices and teachings.
