The Rev. Peter Carlson Schattauer is the Associate Director of the Lutheran Center for Faith, Values, and Community at St. Olaf College. Schattauer’s work at St. Olaf focuses on connecting students, faculty, and staff with the work of the Center and promoting partnerships with student organizations and across campus. 

A Minister of Word and Sacrament in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Schattauer was previously called as Associate Pastor at Advent Lutheran Church in Maple Grove, Minnesota, and served his internship at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Seattle, Washington. 

A graduate of St. Olaf College and Yale Divinity School, Schattauer was deeply formed by campus ministry at both institutions, worshiping and leading in the St. Olaf Student Congregation and working in the Yale University Chaplain’s Office and the University Church in Yale. He currently serves as the Chair of the Board of Directors of Lutheran Campus Ministry – Twin Cities.

As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, Schattauer also seeks in his work to proclaim the radical welcome of all people to life and leadership within the church. A member of Proclaim, the professional organization for LGBTQIA+ rostered leaders in the ELCA, he has volunteered with Extraordinary Lutheran Ministries as the convener of the Seminarian Outreach Team and as a First Call Coach. 

Schattauer lives in Minneapolis where he enjoys taking advantage of cross-country ski trails, bike trails, and spending time with family and friends.
