Karina Sierra directs the advising program including advising students, managing the assignment of advisors to students, and overseeing advising related events at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN. Prior to working at St. Olaf College Karina directed and supported a TRIO/SSS program, a federally funded program which provides educational opportunities to low-income and first-generation students and students with disabilities. She also brings experience working as a financial aid counselor and a college access counselor, working with first-generation and low-income high school students in their transition from high school to college. 

Ms. Sierra earned her B.S. (Community Health) from Florida Gulf Coast University and her M.A. (Higher Education and Student Affairs), from the New York University. She was a first generation and low-income college student. 

Ms. Sierra is committed to providing holistic advising and support to help students reach their academic potential. 

In her free time, Ms. Sierra enjoys spending time with her cats, watching the latest Netflix show, reading, traveling, and volunteering.
