My name is Andrew Swedzinski; I will be a counseling intern at the St. Olaf Counseling Center for the 2024- 2025 school year. I am a fourth-year doctoral candidate pursuing my Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology at Augsburg University in Minneapolis. Before enrolling in the Psy.D. program, I obtained my bachelor's in psychology from Minnesota State University Moorhead. In addition, I received my associate degree from Alexandria Technical and Community College.
My aim in therapy is to be the catalyst in creating an open, supportive space where students may work to develop a deeper understanding of who they are and who they want to be. I feel that clients have a natural tendency to strive toward self-actualization and that through psychological skills training, clients can better develop a holistic appreciation of themselves.
Outside of schooling and working at the St. Olaf Counseling Center, I find significant meaning in reading sci-fi and fantasy books. I also have a deep love of Old School RuneScape.
