Nancy M. Thompson received her BA from Southern Methodist University and her MA and PhD from Indiana University in Bloomington. Nancy teaches introductory courses in Art History and upper-level courses in medieval and Renaissance art. She also teaches Introduction to Women’s and Gender Studies.

Nancy and Anne F. Harris (President of Grinnell College) have co-authored a new medieval art history textbook entitled Medieval Art 250-1450: Matter, Making, and Meaning. She's also written several essays and articles about stained glass in Italy and is always at work on a book-length study of the materiality of Italian medieval stained glass. 

Nancy is a founding member of the Material Collective, an organization dedicated to fostering respectful intellectual exchange and innovative scholarship in the study of the visual arts, in the academy, and in the broader, public sphere.
