Matthew Wright has taught mathematics at St. Olaf College since 2015. Prior to that, he completed his Ph.D. in mathematics at the University of Pennsylvania in 2011 and was a Postdoctoral Fellow for two years at the Institute for Mathematics and its Applications (at the University of Minnesota). He has received both the Allendoerfer Award (2024) and the Trevor Evans Award (2025), both for mathematical exposition, from the Mathematical Association of America. He is an author of the textbook Exploring Mathematics: A Computational Perspective, which he coauthored with Matt Richey. His research is in the area of applied and computational topology, with the goal of developing topological tools for data analysis. When not doing math, Matthew enjoys juggling, reading, and strategy games. He maintains a website at www.mlwright.org.
