The St. Olaf women's hockey team skated to a 2-2 tie in the second and final game with UW-Superior Sat., Jan. 4 at Northfield Ice Arena.

The Oles got off to an early lead with an unassisted goal by Britny Schultheis (So., Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View) at 2:16 in the first period. The Oles ended the first period with a total of 9 shots on goal and a one-goal lead. The second period was played almost completely scoreless. The Oles had incredible efforts on penalty kills. At 18:03, Superior scored on a power play to bring the score to 1-1. The second period was a huge defensive period for the Oles facing 13 shots on goal. The third period was played hard by both teams, knowing the game was at stake. At 12:11 in the third, Lindsay Weier (FY, Menomonie, Wis.) scored an unassisted goal to give the Oles a one goal lead. The Yellow Jackets answered back at 13:24 with a break away goal to tie the game. The third period ended and the game was taken into overtime.

The two teams played five minutes of OT each trying to get the game-winning goal. However, defensive efforts by both teams forced the game to end in a 2-2 tie.

Ole goaltender Andrea Smith (So., Burnsville, Minn.) had a great game with 32 saves. St. Olaf had 19 shots on net. The Oles will next face the University of St. Thomas on Saturday, January 10, at 3pm at the Northfield Ice Arena.
