The St. Olaf men's basketball team held on to a seven-point halftime lead and defeated Macalester 70-63 Wednesday night at Skoglund Athletic Center.

Mike Ludwig (Sr., Blaine, Minn.) had 24 points and eight rebounds for the Oles (8-5, 4-4), who scored the last seven points of the game. Ben Van Thorre's 17 points and 14 rebounds led the Scots (6-7, 4-4).

Justin Bonestroo (Sr., Stillwater, Minn.) added 15 points and Tim Nelson (Sr., Braham, Minn.) 10 and six assists in the win.

St. Olaf has won seven of their last eight at Skoglund Athletic Center.

The Oles opened a ten point advantage in the second half. Macalester, however, went on an 11-0 run to take a 49-48 advantage with just over 11 minutes to play. St. Olaf trailed by as many as nine in the first half before closing the first frame with a 19-3 run.

The Oles were without first-year post player Dane Huber (Northfield, Minn.) who sprained his ankle in practice Tuesday. Huber's return is unlikely.

St. Olaf will play at the University of St. Thomas Saturday afternoon at Shoenecker Arena in St. Paul. The game is set for 3 p.m. and can be heard on 920 AM, KDHL.
