Wrestling competes in SJU Dual Team Tourney

The St Olaf wrestling competed in the Terry Haws Dual Team Tournament at St John's University, Saturday January 18, 2003 at 10:00am. Eight teams wrestled for the top team spot. The Oles defeated Minnesota Morris 34-9 to take seventh place at the tournament.

Minnesota State @ Moorhead 47, St Olaf 9: Alex Morf (Sr., Mt. Vernon, Iowa) beat Adam Marks by fall in 1:43 at 149 pounds. Jason Moore (FY, Brooklyn Center, Minn.) defeated Brandon Gruchow 12-6 at 165 pounds.

UW-Eau Claire 38, St Olaf 16: Ryan Jacobson (FY, Northfield, Minn.) received a forfeit at 133 pounds. Morf pinned Dave Vonevenhoven in 1:37 at 149 pounds. Moore defeated Greg Burzynski 16-5 at 165 pounds.

Rochester Community and Technical College 27, St Olaf 19: Jacobson defeated Ale Franz 11-0 at 133 pounds. Phil Simondet (FY, Minneapolis, Minn.) received at forfeit at 141 pounds. Morf got his third win of the day over Mitch Bunne 3-2 at 149 pounds. Kenny Knight (Sr, Elmhurst, Ill.) received at forfeit at 157 pounds.

St Olaf 34, Minnesota Morris 9: Jacobson beat Jaime Compean 5-2 at 133 pounds. Morf beat Lucas Scharmer 13-4 at 149 pounds. Tony Rezac (FY, Northfield, Minn.), Luke Knadle (Jr, Lacrosse, Wis.), and Knight received forfeits at 157 pounds, 165 pounds, and 174 pounds respectively. Moore beat Eric Steinhoff 10-5 at 184 pounds. Kurt Miller (FY, St. Paul, Minn.) received at forfeit at 197 pounds.

Overall, Morf was undefeated for the day with a record of 4-0. Other notables include Moore and Jacobson who both ended the day with a record of 3-1.

Next up, the Oles will travel to St John's University for the MIAC Duals Saturday, Jan 25 at 10:00am.
