Ole men lose again, Hamline wins 74-68 in overtime

The St. Olaf men's basketball team lost for the fifth time in six games, falling 74-68 in overtime to Hamline University on Monday night.

Mike Ludwig (Sr., Blaine, Minn.) had 20 points for the Oles (4-6, 8-7). Ludwig is now second all-time at St. Olaf with 1,408 points. Paul Muenchow had 16 points for the Pipers (2-8, 6-9).

Hamline outlasted St. Olaf in overtime, scoring the periods first six points.

St. Olaf went on a 12-1 run in the final minutes of regulation to take the lead, 60-58. Hamline scored on the ensuing possession to tie the game with 25.1 seconds remaining. Kevin Jaunich's (Sr., Delano, Minn.) running jumper with under 2 seconds to play caromed off the back of the rim to force overtime. Jaunich finished with 11 points.

Nate Lund (Jr., Mankato, Minn./Loyola) had a career-high 12 rebounds for St. Olaf in the loss.

St. Olaf travels to Concordia-Moorhead College Wednesday night for meeting with the Cobbers at 7:30 p.m. St. Olaf won the first meeting on Nov. 30, 67-62. The game can be heard on 920 AM, KDHL. The Oles return home Saturday, when they host Saint Mary's University at 1 p.m.
