Oles rebound, beat Saint Mary's 89-74

The St. Olaf men's basketball team raced to a 15-0 lead and never turned back in an 89-74 MIAC win over Saint Mary's University Saturday afternoon at Skoglund Athletic Center.

All five Ole starters scored in double-figures in the win. Tim Nelson (Sr., Braham, Minn.) matched a career-high with 22 points on an 8-of-10 night from the floor to lead St.Olaf. Mike Ludwig (Sr., Blaine, Minn.) and Justin Bonestroo (Sr., Stillwater, Minn.) added 16 and 12, while Kevin Jaunich (Sr., Delano, Minn.) and Matt Schlenker (Jr., Rochester, Minn./Mayo) had 11 each. The group combined to shoot 26-for-34 (76.5 percent) from the field. Bonestroo had seven assists and Jaunich nine rebounds.

Terrance Smith had 16 points and Nick Michaels 13 for Saint Mary's.

St. Olaf hosts Gustavus Adolphus College on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. The game is free of admission and can be heard on 920 AM, KDHL.
