Mark Glineburg (FY, St. Paul, Minn.) and Carly Knoell (FY, Lincoln, Neb) were both individual champions for the Ole swimmer and divers this past weekend at the Get to the Point Invitational in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.

Glineburg had an amazing meet as he showed he is one of the top Division III swimmers in the Midwest. Glineburg won both the 200 and 400-yard individual medleys. Glineburg's time of 1:58.93 placed him first out of 34 competitors and was almost two seconds faster than the runner up's time. In the 400-yard individual medley, Glineburg had an even more phenomenal swim finishing over 7 seconds ahead of the nearest competitor, with a season best time of 4:14.85.

Knoell swam equally well for the women with a win in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:02.33. Knoell also went on to finish in second place in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:13.93. Knoell has performed consistently this season in the backstroke events, and looks to be a contender for the conference championship.

The women's depth came through at the meet as they finished in the top eight for many events. In the 200-yard butterfly, Katie Detwiler (SO, Fort Atkinson, Wisc.), Jenna Kubat (SO, Des Moines, Iowa), and Sonia Karimi (SR, Rochester, Minn.) finished 4th, 5th, and 8th, respectively in the final heat. In addition Hannah Berg (FY, Edina, Minn.) finished 9th, and Lauren Haugen (FY, Faribault, Minn.) and Sara Champlin (SO, Prescott, Minn.) finished 12th and 13th respectively. This event has been a strong point for the Ole women over the last few seasons and looks to be even stronger this year.

Kubat also swam especially well in her other events, with a season best time of 4:57.13 that was good enough to place her 11th. In the 500-yard freestyle, Kubat came back from a disappointing preliminary swim to drop four seconds in the evening and place 10th with a time of 5:26.25. Anne Lindberg (JR, Maple Grove, Minn.) also had an outstanding two days with two season best times. Her top finish came in the 1650-yard freestyle where she placed 6th with a time 18:27.10. Lindberg also finished 7th in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:28.73 and 14th in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 5:03.66. Anna Guenther (SR, Minneapolis, Minn.) also swam well in the 100-yard breaststroke with a second place time of 1:09.72. Guenther went on to place 4th in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:33.46 The performances of Adam Lukens (SR, Wichita, Kan.) and Lee Thomsen (JR, El Cajon, Calif.) also stood out this past weekend. Lukens came out of nowhere to place fourth in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:20.33. Lukens also went on to place 10th in the 400-yard individual of 4:32.40. Thomsen turned in two tenth place finishes in the 100 and 200-yard freestyle events with times of 1:49.38 and 49.49 respectively. Grant Vanlishout (SR, Reedsville, Wisc.) placed right after Lukens in the 200-yard breaststroke with a fifth place time of 2:20.42, and also placed in the top eight in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:04.17. Other notable performances came from Jon Saxton (FY, Ames, Iowa) in the 200-yard and 500-yard freestyle events. Saxton placed 11th in the 200 with at time of 1:50.33 and 8th in the 500 with a time of 5:02.9. The men and women will host the University of St. Thomas this Friday, January 31st at 6:00 p.m. at Skoglund pool.
