Amy Gage
January 20, 2003

Faculty from St. Olaf College were out in full force at the 134th annual meeting of the American Philological Association, held in January in New Orleans. Department chair Anne Groton organized and moderated a panel on political aspects of the new comedy of Menander. Provost and Dean of the College James May presented a paper on the use of Ciceronian scholarship in the Latin classroom, and his newly published Companion to Cicero was prominently displayed in the book exhibits. And Assistant Professor of Classics Jon Bruss presented a paper on cenotaphic epigrams of victims of shipwrecks.
