The St. Olaf Chapel Choir will perform two new works as part of Vespers service

October 17, 2004

The St. Olaf Chapel Choir, directed by Bob Scholz, professor of music, will present a fall Vespers service on Sunday, Oct. 17, at 7:30 p.m. in Boe Memorial Chapel. Vespers is free and open to the public.

The two new works by English composers, special music as part of Evening Prayer, are "Magnificat" by Andrew Carter and "Onata lux" from Canticles of Light by Bob Chilcott. Carter's piece, published this year, is a 25-minute work that mixes Bible verses in English with traditional Latin text. John Ferguson, professor of music, will be organist and a chamber orchestra from the St. Olaf Orchestra will be part of the evening's program.
