Former St. Olaf College baseball coach and Professor Emeritus Jim Dimick was part of the inaugural class of the Minnesota Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame inducted on Oct. 30 in Minneapolis. Dimick is one of two college coaches recognized along with 10 high school coaches.

Dimick coached the St. Olaf baseball team from 1967 to 1994. In his 27 years as head coach, Dimick's teams won 14 conference championships -- seven in the Midwest conference and seven in the MIAC. He compiled a record of 589 wins and 259 losses, giving him a .694 winning percentage. Under Dimick's leadership, St. Olaf finished second in the conference 17 times and won a berth to the NCAA regional baseball tournament 13 times. In addition, Dimick was also an assistant football coach and assistant basketball coach during his tenure at St. Olaf.

This is the fifth Hall of Fame honor Dimick has received, including the St. Cloud State Hall of Fame, Cumberland (Wis.) High School Hall of Fame, Minnesota Fellowship of Christian Athletes Hall of Fame and the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA). Dimick continues to speak across the country about baseball, coaching techniques and is a highly sought after clinician, after starting a premier coaching clinic more than 30 years ago at St. Olaf.
