Oles Lose on the Road to Tommies

The St. Olaf women?s basketball team fell 85-51 to St. Thomas in Saturday?s MIAC action. St. Thomas is tied for the lead at 15-2 heading into the final week of the regular season.

The Oles shot well in the first half and handled the Tommies? full court pressure. The Oles were 13-32 for 41% and turned the ball over only seven times. St. Thomas went on a 10-2 run six minutes before the break to give them a 15 point advantage at the half, 44-19. The Tommies opened the second half with a 14-2 run in the first three minutes of play and the Oles could never close the gap.

Amanda Renneke (Jr., Northfield, Minn.) led the Oles with nine first half points, followed by Elisa Hatlevig (Sr., Northfield, Minn.) with seven. Lori Enlund (FY, Bloomington, Ill.) and Liz Woodrow (Jr., Aitkin, Minn.) each chipped in six. Hatlevig, Enlund and Kelly Sweeney (FY, Oakdale, Minn.) each tallied four rebounds.

St. Olaf heads into the final week vying for the final play-off position in the MIAC tournament. The Oles play host to Augsburg College tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Skoglund Center; the two teams are currently tied at 7-10 in the MIAC. Following tonight?s game, the Oles will travel to the College of St. Catherine on Wednesday, February 14 for a 7:30 p.m. game.
